Christina Lacey, Head Coach Boys & Girls Tennis
Welcome to Bishop McDevitt High School and Boys & Girls Tennis! I am passionate about tennis and have enjoyed coaching both teams.
My coaching career began in the spring of 2013 with the boy’s team and has continued to the present. Each year the number of players on the roster has increased, with an all time high of 34 players. I am proud to say that the bishop McDevitt boys team won their first Mid-Penn championship in the spring of 2017! The fall of 2018 marked my first year as head coach of the girl’s team, and the roster has included over 20 players each season. Prior to being appointed head coach of the girl’s team, i served as assistant coach for a couple of seasons.
My goal as a tennis coach is to instill a love of the game in all players, new and experienced. I focus on teaching the game to everyone so that they will continue playing for the rest of their lives. Many players have joined the tennis team without ever hitting a tennis ball. When they have completed their first season, those players are skilled and are playing competitive tennis. I also believe in a “no cut” policy. If someone wants to learn the game and play tennis for McDevitt, they are automatically on the team.
I am a graduate of Villanova university with a BSN in nursing, have been married for 34 years, and have three grown children. I am active in the community as a member of the Hershey symphony orchestra (28 years) and i am a board member of the Hershey symphony. I play USA Tennis competitively and bring my skills and knowledge to coaching the high school players. I have been the leader of a prayer shawl ministry since 2007, providing knitted and crocheted blankets and shawls to those in need. I am also an active member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish and believe faith is an integral part of my coaching.
I would love to have you as a member of the Bishop McDevitt boys or girls tennis team!
