Why McDevitt?

Thank you for your interest in Bishop McDevitt High School!

Every parent wants the best for their child.  We all strive to raise intelligent, caring, happy, well rounded children.  However, in this day and age, it is not always easy to grow up so positively.

For almost 100 years, Bishop McDevitt has created an environment to foster knowledge, service, spirituality and talents. We are a college preparatory school. Our academics are challenging to push each student to their fullest potential with their collegiate goals in mind. We encourage this from the moment they enter our school as a freshmen. Our teachers understand the need to challenge the academic strength yet recognize and assist with the struggle.

Although academics are our number one priority, spirituality is our main concern.  Prayer surrounds our students.  Classes begin with prayer and reverence and quietly move into instruction.  Our faculty models our Christian values and the students feel safe and secure to express their faith.  We faithfully provide daily religious study, school wide Mass, penance, retreats and Christian based clubs to deepen and live out our faith.

But, learning and growing happen outside of the classroom too. McDevitt is a small school that is able to offer over thirty clubs and activities and fifteen PIAA sanctioned sports to support and enhance any student’s interest or passion. Our students truly flourish in mind, soul and body.  It is the extracurricular activities that exercise and hone a student into a well rounded young adult.  Along the way, they make lasting memories and wonderful friendships.

These high school years fly by for our students because they are challenged in the classroom, engaged spiritually, and participate in school activities.

In this day and age, there couldn’t be a better place for a student than Bishop McDevitt High School.
