Football Team Welcomes NFL Players to Summer Workouts

Head Football Coach Jeff Weachter and the Bishop McDevitt Football Team were happy to welcome four NFL players to their summer workouts on two occasions.

On June 22, 2009, former Crusaders Jaimie Thomas '04 and LeSean McCoy, visited McDevitt Field to workout with the football team. Both Thomas and McCoy are headed into their rookie seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and the Philadelphia Eagles, respectively.

The team's June 29th workout at Holy Family School welcomed veteran players Coy Wire of the Atlanta Falcons and Jon Corto of the Buffalo Bills. Wire, a Cedar Cliff High School product, played football at Stanford, and was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2002. This year, the linebacker will take to the gridiron for the Atlanta Falcons. Corto, also a linebacker, attended Sacred Heart University, and was signed by the Buffalo Bills in 2007. Corto and Wire gave players tips on improving their summer training, and motivated the team during the workout. Wire is the founder of IGNITE Elite Athletic Training. IGNITE Trainer, Jim Launer, works regularly with the Crusaders.
