Harrisburg, PA (February 2, 2011) — On January 28, State Farm® Insurance Companies acknowledged Bishop McDevitt High School has one of fifty-two winners from around the country for Friday Night Feats, a national video contest highlighting the biggest moments from this year’s high school football season. Bishop McDevitt High School was awarded $2,500 and had a chance at a $15,000 grand prize for their ‘Crusader Scramble” video highlighting a play from the 2010 football season.

“We felt very honored and connected to this award,” said Tommy Mealy, Athletic Director, Bishop McDevitt High School. “Our students, parents, and local community really came together to go after the prize in this contest. Because of such dedicated people involved during this process, we were also very lucky to eventually win the award.”

Bishop McDevitt won $2,500 and advanced to become “one of the Finalist Nominees” of this fan-fueled football contest. The winners were determined by fan votes by logging onto the FridayNightFeats.com site during the contest.

“I would like to congratulate Bishop McDevitt for not only an outstanding moment but an outstanding season,” said State Farm agent Diana Caine-Helwig. “I would like to thank everyone who was involved and glad to see the school is able to benefit from the award.”

Fans, athletes and coaches had a chance to show off their big plays by entering a video during the contest. Anyone could submit videos to the Friday Night Feats site, FridayNightFeats.com, to be considered as the best Friday night feat of the 2010 high school football season.

At the end of the contest which ended Nov. 24 a panel of qualified judges narrowed the field down to the top 10 videos from all the Finalist Nominees based on the "wow" factor, athleticism, impact of the play, and creativity of the video, which will include a title and brief description of the play. Viewers again had the final word on choosing the first, second and third place prize winners by voting for their favorite. The grand prize winners were announced on Dec. 13 where they were awarded cash prizes of $15,000 for the first prize, $10,000 for second place and $5,000 for third place.
