Admissions Timeline


September-October

  • Bishop McDevitt students visit 8th graders in our Catholic feeder school system.  McDevitt student discuss several aspects about the McD high school student experience.  All 8th graders are given folders with an Admission Application and other pertinent information to become a Crusader.

November

  • Bishop McDevitt will host its annual Prospective Family Open House.  This is a wonderful day to meet our esteemed faculty, tour our state of the art facility and meet students and coaches representing our clubs and sports. Online registration is encouraged in early November.

December

  • Please check our website for information regarding the High School Placement Test (HSPT).   All interested 8th graders are required to take the test in January.  Registration is required.

January

  • Sign up for one of the two dates offered for the HSPT for all interested 8th graders.  Registration is required and can be found on our website.

February

  • Financial Aid forms become available on our website.  Please fill out the forms even if your student is only considering attending the next school year.  Some forms are due back to McDevitt in March.  After that date, no financial aid will be available.
  • Check our website for 8th gr. Orientation online registration. (late Feb.)

March

  • HSPT results will be mailed to families.
  • 8th gr. Parent Information Night-This evening provides an overview regarding admissions, freshmen course selection, spiritual opportunities,  tuition, sports and the transition from grade school to Bishop McDevitt.
  • 8th gr. Orientation Day-This special day is for all interested 8th graders.  We begin with a prayer service.  Next, we will have a samill sampling of presentations by various clubs and activies. The rest of the day is broken into section s to visit classrooms and teachers, meet upperclassmen representing clubs & sports and have lunch provided by McDevitt.  Registration to participate is required of any student attending public, other private, charter, cyber or home school.  Online registration will be available in late February
  • All admission paperwork is due the end of the month unless and interview is required.  Interveiws are mandatory for any student attending a public, other private, charter, cyber or home school. These interviews begin in mid April.  Please call to schedule a date.

April-May

  • Interested students in grades 8-10 should contact the Director of Admission to schedule the interview.
  • 8th gr. students who have submitted Admission Applications, but did not take the HSPT in January will be notified about the HSPT June test date.

June

  • Informational letters will be sent to all registered freshmen outlining the English summer assignment and Freshmen Orientation dates.
  • Interested students in grades 8-10 should contact the Director of Admission to schedule the interview.

July

  • Freshmen Orientation in late July.  Please contact the Director of Admission to select a day.
  • Interested students in grades 8-10 should contact the Director of Admission to schedule the interview.

August

  • Freshmen Orientation continues from late July into early August.  Please contact the Director of Admission to select a day.
  • Freshmen first day of school is August 25th.
