Congratulations Class of 2009

Faculty, friends, and family gathered on Tuesday, May 26th at the Forum in Harrisburg to celebrate the Class of 2009’s graduation from Bishop McDevitt High School.  155 students each received their diploma from Bishop Kevin Rhoades, who also gave the Graduation Address.

The 88th annual Commencement exercises featured speeches by Salutatorian, Nikolas Sutsko, and Valedictorian, Bradley Kunisky.  Kunisky’s personal and touching speech praised his classmates' academic and extracurricular achievements during the year, and also encouraged them to take advantage of every opportunity that comes into their lives.  Following his speech the Class of 2009 gave him a standing ovation.

The ceremony was especially meaningful for graduate David L. Daxton.  His father, Capt. Scott Daxton, is currently serving with the Pennsylvania National Guard in Iraq.  With help from McDevitt staff, in conjunction with “Freedom Calls Foundation Satellite Network,” Capt. Daxton was able to watch his son graduate via live webcast.
