Senator Jeff Piccola visited Bishop McDevitt High School on November 12, 2009 to present a check from the South Central Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Program.
With him to present the check were Larry Wasser, Vice-President of Operations at Phoenix Contact; Sally Klein, a member of the Board of Directors for the Program; and Dave Black, President of the Greater Harrisburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Principal Sr. Mary Anne Bednar accepted the check on behalf of the school. Senator Piccola spoke briefly and explained the South Central program. The Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) provides tax incentives for community businesses to contribute to scholarship organizations, allowing their state tax monies to remain in their communities.
