Feel The Power

Jon Pritikin, holder of a Guinness World Record and competitor on the World’s Strongest Man contests, came to Bishop McDevitt High School today to address the student body.

Using feats of strength such as bending a steel bar, ripping a telephone book in half, and breaking a baseball bat, he captivated the students' attention. Through the assembly Jon spoke to the students about bullying and self-worth. He told them about his life story and inspired everyone in the room to meet his challenge. Jon challenged the students to be heroes. He asked them to never let anyone eat alone in the cafeteria again. “Heroes help people going through a tough time. There is a time in your life when you can help someone and be their hero. Don’t be mean to people.”

Jon encouraged the students throughout the two assemblies. Students were given time to ask questions in front of everyone and even privately. All of the students were very receptive and moved by his story.

To join Jon’s Facebook page or to see photos of the students with Jon after the assembly, please visit the following sites. www.feelthepower.org or search for Jon Pritikin on Facebook. To see pictures from the McDevitt assemblies, click here or on the above photo.

More information about his visit will be published in the next issue of the Twin Towers in January 2012.
